You have problems with Morphix installed in the Hard disk and you want to reinstall it again, deleting the previous installation and partition.
By Pedro MacanÃÂás Valverde.
To reinstall it safely, you have to follow the installation steps (see the MorphixHdHowTo), with some particularities.
- Save the esential files, they are usefull for the reinstallation (specially the XFreeConfig-4 one). You can save it in a floppy disk or in other partition.
- Print MorphixHdFaqSummary, MorphixHdFaq and MorphixHdFaqUsing,
- During the reinstallation (in cfdisk), you have to select: delete the partion and write it again (indicate primary, bootable). You recieve the message:"Are you sure you want to write the partition table to disk? Warning: this may destroy data on your disk". Write "yes" if sure.
- Follow the previously printed guides.
- Use Morphix [LiveCD] when you have to access to the Internet and you cannot use your hard disk installation, to transfer files (i.e. from a floppy or other partition to the new created partion)...
- And specially use the prudence principle: don't install what you don't really need. The contrary can lead you into troubles and a reinstallation.
