On this page we'll describe what goals we are aiming for with each release. It organizes our efforts a bit, and gives us some time to sleep. Sorry, we can't change the world overnight (well, it would be handy... )

Done:

  • Kernel 2.6 up and running
  • partition tool for testing out (not yet ready for prime-time)%%%
  • expert installation mode (more or less done)%%%
  • a configuration panel, with at least the following tools: X, Network, Dialup, Keyboard, Locale, Users, Fstab? (making use of config4gnu see SubProjects)
  • a base module using 2.6-pre/test, which uses unionfs %%%

Left to do:

  • add xlibmesa4-drm-source with recent ATI modules (maybe in 0.4-1 ?)
  • a nice flashy bootscreen (done in 0.4, not yet ready for harddisk-install, would require a deb package) %%%
  • remote X terminal mode (done)%%%
  • on-the-fly minimodule loading (nearly there)%%%
  • wm-on-demand (unlikely)%%%
  • loading in ram of modules? (done)%%%
  • Windows files in the base module, explaining that users need to reboot (or maybe linboot?) (done) %%%
  • LUFS minimodule (added to 0.4-1 base)
  • Other keyboards maps, some like brazilian ABNT2
  • Better Winmodem support
